Not being able to get to sleep at night is horrible, you’ve had an exhausting day, you know you have lots to do tomorrow and you need to get up early, yet you lie there tossing and turning and can’t get to sleep at all. So what can you do about it? Well below we discuss 3 ways that can help you get a good night’s sleep: Relax before you go to sleep: This sounds simple, but often it is not.
Lots of people go straight from being submerged in the fast-pace of their waking hours and then try to go straight to sleep, that just doesn’t work. We are bombarded constantly with things that try to get our attention or things we need to get done etc. if you try to go to sleep after experiencing all that then often you lie there with your head spinning and you can’t shut off and get the sleep you want.
Watching TV is not a way to wind down before you go to bed either, you have to sit through adverts and watch people being shot at etc., it is far too stimulating to actually relax with. Reading for 20 – 30 minutes before you go to bed is one of the best ways to settle down and relax, or you could write a list of all the things you need to do the next day, that way you don’t lie awake fretting about what you need to do instead.
Add some noise to the night: There are devices on the market called white noise generators which you can buy that actually make a noise like a fan to help drown out background noise and give you something to focus on. Don’t ask me why having some noise in the background can help soothe you into a peaceful sleep, but I know it works because I keep a dehumidifier in my room so I can have the constant humming noise to listen to.
Give it a try and see if you like it as much as I do! Exercise: I don’t mean exercise just before bed, but the exercise in general during your day means you will be more tired when you go to bed and so you can drift off into a peaceful slumber. It also means you’ll get a better quality of sleep because you are making yourself healthier so your body does not have to fight as many problems during the night (if you keep up the exercise).
Those are just 3 of many different ways you can increase your chances of getting a good night’s sleep, and you might need a combination of all 3 to get the level of sleep you truly deserve. These methods might seem like a lot of work, and you wonder how you are going to fit them into your busy schedule, but the next time you are lying in bed looking at the ceiling for hours then I think you’ll decide they are worth it.If you are interested in a white noise generator then check out 980aSoundConditioner.com for details on a Maraca Sleep Mate 980a.
